On June 5, 2025, families of DAWN Microfinance employees collectively donated a water purification system and solar panel to Myinsaing (Middle) Village in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region, which has been facing clean water shortages due to recent earthquake impacts. This donation was made possible through voluntary contributions from all DAWN staff families, showcasing their collective compassion and commitment to social responsibility.
The donated water purification system and solar panel are expected to provide a sufficient daily supply of clean water to over 500 households in the village. Previously, the village faced significant challenges in accessing drinking water due to the high cost of drilling wells and the excessive mineral content found in local water sources. The new system is anticipated to effectively address these problems, ensuring access to clean drinking water and helping reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases. The purification system can produce 500 liters of clean water per hour, totaling 3,000 liters per day. The solar system will support daily operation of the purifier, power lighting, and allow charging of mobile devices.
DAWN Microfinance CEO, Daw Khin Thida, along with senior officials from the Head Office and staff from the Kyaukse Branch, attended the donation ceremony. They met with village residents and discussed the importance of maintaining and sustaining the system for long-term use. Additionally, technical guidance was provided to ensure proper usage of both the water purification system and the solar panel.
